Differences between a Standalone Product Page and a Theme Product page

This article will help you differentiate between a Standalone Product page and a Theme Product Page.

The differences between a Standalone Product Page and a Theme Product page

The common thing between the two types of pages is that both of them help you customize the way your product pages looks and how it operates. However, a Theme Product page will be applied for all your products to create a consistent look and feel across your entire website. Using the EcomSolid Theme Editor, you may easily alter the layout or appearance of your Theme Product Page. On the other hand, it does not allow you to customize from page to page.

In case you’re looking for a way to create a unique design for your product pages, a standalone page will allow you more flexibility. With our Page Editor, you will be able to create multiple product pages for different products instead of using a uniform look for all the products.

There’s a limitation of the standalone pages you can create depending on your subscription; click here for more details.

How to customize a Theme Product Page

Step 1: From the EcomSolid Dashboard, head to the Theme Editor.

Step 2: Select “Product Pages” from the top bar of the Editor Page.

Step 3: Finalize designing your Product template.

When everything is in place, don’t forget to hit the “Save” and “Update live” buttons to bring the updates into your live store. The theme product page will be applied for all your products then.

How to create a Standalone Product Page

Step 1: Go to the Ecomsolid Dashboard > Pages > Product Pages; select "Create New Page" in the top right corner.

Step 2: Next, use the search bar or choose a product from the list to assign to your new product page.

You may see the Used label next to the product name that means the product has been assigned to another page previously. If you select them, you will receive an error message “The object is already in use. Please select another object.”

This newly created template will be applied for the selected product only.

Step 3:  After that, you should see various pre-built templates to create your page in minutes. Hover over your preferred template and hit “Choose template.”

Otherwise, if you already have an idea to design your product page, you can start editing from a blank page by selecting “New Blank Page.”

Step 4: Input your Page Title and Page handle in the respective fields. Check the box Enable Theme Header & Footer to include the Header and Footer of your theme on the product page if needed.

Hit “Create product page” when finished.

Step 5: Finalize designing your Product template. When everything is in place, don’t forget to hit the “Save” and “Publish” buttons to bring the updates into the live store. After that, the standalone product page will replace the current theme page.
