How to add Facebook Pixel to your store

This article will walk you through steps on how to add Facebook Pixel to your store.

Facebook Pixel is an analytics tool that helps you measure your advertising effectiveness by understanding your online store’s traffic and customer behavior. There are two ways to add Facebook Pixel to your Shopify store - from your Shopify Admin or in EcomSolid Theme Settings.

From Your Shopify Admin

From the Shopify Admin, you can add the Facebook Pixel to your store by using the Facebook channel or adding the Pixel code to the theme code.

Method #1: Set up Facebook Pixel using the Facebook channel.

Step 1: Go to Shopify Admin > Online Store > Preferences. Under the Facebook Pixel section, click on “Set up Facebook.”

Step 2: Follow the steps to connect your Facebook account with Shopify.

Under the Data sharing section, toggle on the “Enable customer data sharing” switch. Next, in the Choose level section, select Standard, Enhanced, or Maximum. Kindly check out this article from Shopify for the differences among the three levels.

Step 3: Select the Pixel you want to connect.

All Pixels you have created will be listed here. If you don't have one, click "Create new" and follow the instructions.

Method #2: Add the Pixel code to your theme code.

Before starting with this method, you will need to create a Facebook Pixel and have a Pixel code first. Please follow the instruction here until you find the Pixel code.

Hit “Copy code” to save it to your clipboard.

Step 1: Go to Shopify admin > Online Store > Themes > Actions and select “Edit Code.”

Step 2: Look for the file “theme.liquid” file under the Layout section or via the search bar. Open the file and paste the Pixel code at the bottom of the header section, just above the closing head tag.

Hit “Save” when finished.

In EcomSolid Theme Settings

On the other hand, we also provide a feature that will help you add the Pixel code to your store.

Step 1: Head to the EcomSolid Dashboard > Theme Settings.

Scroll down until you see the section to add the custom code to your header.

Step 2: Paste the Pixel code you saved previously into the field and click on “Save” when finished.

To check if your Pixel is working correctly, you can consider using the Facebook Pixel Helper. When the Facebook Pixel is installed successfully, the Pixel Helper icon turns blue, and a small badge will appear, indicating the number of pixels found on your website.

That’s it! Facebook Pixel is ready to help you understand your customer better.
